We are going to grow old together – you, me, the ‘Grow old disgracefully’ team and the rest of the world.
Quote… ‘There is a fountain of youth: It is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. …’
It’s true, there is a fountain – our mind is a powerful tool and we all have a talent of some kind.
We can be creative and everyone loves someone but that doesn’t stop the menopause, arthritis, the loss of memory or heartache when you lose something or someone you love.
However, we have each other and whether you grow old disgracefully or not, it doesn’t matter. It’s no body’s business but yours.
We’ve heard all the age associated sayings, such as – ‘age is just a number’, ‘you’re as old as the woman you feel’ and ‘young at heart’. I was hoping that I would become ‘older and wiser’ with age and mature nicely like a good bottle of red but it’s not happened yet. I’m currently 49 with half a century on the horizon. I’m not a spring chicken anymore, things are starting to malfunction and I definitely have a ‘best before date’!
So, with all that in mind, I decided that it would be great to age with my readers and other contributors to this blog site.
Am I growing old disgracefully? I can tell you that some of my older relatives would definitely say yes! Things were different in their time – woman rarely travelled to places like Aiya Napa on their own in their 40s. Internet dating wasn’t around and apparently according to them, Internet dating websites is a place that is full of axe murderers who want to steal your money. Whilst in some cases it could be true but so could the stranger in the bar or your partner at your new salsa dancing class.
In 20 years time please tell me if I sound like one of them. I hope I don’t.
I don’t want to grow old quietly or in line with the norm all the time. Life is an adventure and I ride the rollercoaster – normally talking and smiling too much!
Are you the same? Or do you need a little pick me up? If so, stay with me now.
On this blog site we are going to talk about the following topics:
- The environment
We will be talking about life experiences, how we can improve our health, diet & nutrition – including supplements. We will be touching on sensitive topics, state of mind, fitness and relationships.
You and our team will be taking a journey, learning from each other and hopefully, this blog site will be an inspiration, a comfort and a place to have a little giggle or a tear.
Enjoy the journey and if you want to grow old disgracefully – you do that!
Rachel (trying not to grow old too disgracefully!)
